Audio and video connections (PMSE)

If you produce radio or television programs, you may need a licence for your equipment. This also applies if you present audiovisual information directly, such as at conferences, sporting events, or theater performances. This category is also known as Programme Making and Special Events (PMSE).

Low power: no licence required

Some applications use low power. Low power generally refers to equipment with limited power that covers short distances. For these, you do not need a licence – under certain conditions. For example, you can use certain wireless microphones and in-ear monitoring systems ('earpieces') without a licence.

Audio and video equipment that requires a licence

PMSE applications for which you need a licence include wireless audio connections (DAV), such as return connections, report connections, and intercom connections.
